This past year the people of Bahia Ballena have worked hard to reforest their beaches to prevent coastal erosion and provide shelter for wildlife.
Using seeds collected from local and native trees, over 80 residents contributed time on their weekends to plant 1,000 trees, mapping their locations to monitor their progress for years to come.
The community has also started a nursery, to house further seedlings and trees until they are strong enough to take root. We’ve achieved a lot, but it’s only the beginning.
We are asking you to help us raise $2,000. With this, we can complete our nursery, thus sheltering future trees. We will plant additional trees, meeting a vital need to reforest coastal rainforests here in Costa Rica.
Support us this Giving Tuesday–our coast and our rainforest thanks you.
