Broken GPS - PenWondering what to do with some laptops or GPS units or water quality monitoring kits that are still in working condition but that you are no longer using? We at Geoporter are in need of reliable equipment to continue working in communities in Costa Rica. While Costa Rica seems like an idea place to work (it is), the climate is hard on technology.

In the three years Geoporter has been down in Costa Rica full time, we have an estimated lifespan for a variety of equipment based on our own experience. The humidity, temperature, and salty air, decrease the lifespan of our equipment.

  • Laptops (no older than 8 years)
  • GPS units (fully functioning)
  • And other smaller items

We also need new rechargeable batteries as ours have a lifespan of about 2 years. Our current stock of GPS units all run on Panasonic eneloop AA Rechargeable Batteries.

AND if your company is looking for a non-profit to add to its annual earmarked giving, Geoporter is a compliant U.S. 501(c)3. Over the past three years, our work has been made possible through grants and donations, and we would like to add corporate sponsorships as well. If you are interested in discussing corporate sponsorship, email Anita Palmer, President, at anita@geoporter.net.

Don’t worry, you won’t have to ship it to Costa Rica. We will have you ship it to a location in the U.S. and we will get it from there.
